History

BJ’s Trophies was established around 1975 and has only changed ownership 3 times since. The current owners, Phil & Karen Brown, purchased the business in October 2010, bringing with them a combined 50+ years business and retail experience.

They changed the trading name to BJ’s Trophies Plus to reflect an increased range of products and services and rebranded the store.

In 2011, new equipment was purchased allowing in-house printing of items such as name badges, plaques, and coffee mugs. These items had previously been outsourced which was difficult, uncompetitive and most of all inflexible. This enabled the business to offer faster turnaround times and quantity discounts.

In 2012, the purchase of a new rotary engraving machine and a new laser engraving machine, stopped the need for out-sourcing and allowed the business to vastly expand its services and customer base. As above, these additions allowed the business to be more competitive and enhanced its reputation in the trophy and engraving industry.

By 2013, the business was looking for larger premises. At the same time their major competitor, Burtons Trophies, went on the market. Burtons Trophies was acquired in May 2013 and the old Burtons store in Townsend St was immediately closed.

As the 2 businesses were merged, a new Showroom, Office and Workshop became operational in expanded premises in Macauley St. The business was rebranded as BJ Burtons Trophies & Engraving.

The business & reputation continues to grow.
